Day 2 of BottleRock in the Napa Valley was another beautiful day with great artists and tons of gourmet bites to eat. Headliners of the day included longtime pop sensation Justin Timberlake and iconic rapper Ice Cube. An array of Top Chef winners were among the guest chefs of the day, bringing on special celebrity guests to help them cook up some delicious dishes on the Williams Sonoma Stage.
Young singer Ava Maybee brought her high energy to the Verizon Stage to begin the day. She wore a sheer neon yellow dress with black undergarments and a blue hat to accent her colorful outfit and bright pink hair. Ava just recently released her debut EP Orange Drive and completed a 15 city US tour. Her performance included songs “Puke,” “Gold Star Sticker,” and “Mood Swings.”

Actress Kate Hudson showed off her singing skills as she made the stage her own for her first ever BottleRock performance. Hudson went with a boho chic look in a lacey white dress and black thigh-high boots. Her smooth vocals shined as she sang a few songs from her debut album Glorious like “Never Made A Moment” and “Lying To Myself.”

Swedish singer and lead vocalist of CHVRCHES, Lauren Mayberry delivered a wonderful set that included 12 of her songs. She wore a “Protect The Dolls Shirt,” a viral campaign in support of trans women, and criticized the nearby “Choke The Woke” sign that can be seen on the way to the festival. Pushing past the negativity, Mayberry sang songs including “Crocodile Tears,” “A Work of Fiction,” and a fun cover of The Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony.”

Celebrity chef brothers Michael and Bryan Voltaggio took to the Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage with Green Day drummer Tré Cool, actor and comedian Adam Devine, and singer Benson Boone. The group made deliciously huge lobster rolls together. Benson Boone came out to make Moonbeam ice cream, bringing to life the lyrics of his song “Mystical Magical” that mentions the galactic treat. Benson even did his trademark backflip for the culinary crowd to see live after the ice cream tasting.

Highly acclaimed chef and restaurateur Andrew Zimmern and Bush co-founder Gavin Rossdale partnered up to make some of his signature “Love Me” pasta with a pre-cooked king crab. Zimmern made his own dish of fried rice with the gigantic crab from the Bay area. The scene was like an episode of a Food Network show, with both men working side by side to make their best dish.

4 Non Blondes, a San-Francisco based ’90s band played one of their few concerts in the past three decades on the JaM Cellars Stage. Vocalist Linda Perry, bassist Christa Hillhouse, guitarist Roger Rocha, and drummer Dawn Richardson were introduced to the stage by Perry’s 10-year-old son Rhodes. The group went through all their hits including “What’s Up,” stating that its message is more relevant than it’s ever been. This was a true BottleRock moment with one of the biggest crowds of the festival weekend coming out to see the iconic band.

Top Chef winner and host Kristen Kish was joined by the lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis for a cooking session. Kiedis was launching his new canned cold brew coffee called JOLENE. The coffee is sourced from an all-female co-op in the high Andean elevations of Peru. The pair whipped up some coffee ice cream with Kiedis shirtless wearing his white apron and a black bandana around his neck.

All the stars came out to see Benson Boone perform including Stef and Ayesha Curry, Dave Grohl, Kate Hudson, as well as Bobby Flay and girlfriend Brooke Williamson. He started the performance with his signature backflip off of the piano and continued to wow the crowd with his charismatic presence. He saved his hit song “Beautiful Things” for last to close the set. He even performed new heartfelt single “The Momma Song,”

Top Chef winner and restaurateur Brooke Williamson met up with childhood friend, actress, and singer Kate Hudson to cook some delicious tacos and margaritas. The two are high school friends and spent their cooking time reminiscing about old memories together, which were fun to hear. The women seemed to be having a lot of fun together as they made their Mexican cuisine.

Justin Timberlake made the last stop on his American tour at BottleRock on the JaM Cellars Stage. Timberlake opened his set with “Mirrors” and moved right into 2000’s hit “Cry Me A River.” For songs “Selfish” and “What Goes Around – Comes Around,” Timberlake made the moment more intimate with an acoustic guitar. At one point, Timberlake took off his jacket to reveal a T-shirt with a steamy photo of his wife, Jessica Biel who was at the festival promoting her new wine label Prophet & Poet. The set ended with Timberlake on the piano for “Until the End of Time.”

Rapper Ice Cube had a huge crowd to close the night out on the Verizon Stage. He played versions of “Straight Outta Compton” and “Gangsta Gangsta” with his usual precision and talent. He made sure to include hits like “Friday,” “Check Yo Self,” and “You Know How We Do It.” Cube was joined by fellow L.A. rapper WC, who was in the group Westside Connection with him in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s. WC performed his own song “West Up!”
