Inside BottleRock Napa Valley’s Star-Studded Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage

At BottleRock Napa Valley, the music may headline the bill, but every year the Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage proves it can also steal the spotlight. Equal parts cooking competition, comedy show, celebrity hangout, and rock concert, the culinary stage once again became one of the most entertaining attractions at the festival. Across three packed days in Napa Valley, superstar chefs teamed up with musicians, actors, athletes, and comedians to create unforgettable moments that often had the crowd roaring louder than the nearby concert stages.

Friday: Pasta, Crawfish, and Celebrity Karaoke

Friday’s lineup immediately set the tone for the weekend with chaos, humor, and larger-than-life personalities. Kicking off the festivities was social media sensation Nadia Caterina Munno, better known to millions online as The Pasta Queen. Munno brought a distinctly Italian energy to the stage while making fresh pasta alongside George Kittle, Kyle Juszczyk, former San Francisco Giants pitcher George Kontos, and Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach. The combination of NFL stars, rock royalty, and flying pasta noodles perfectly captured BottleRock’s signature blend of food and pop culture.

Later Friday afternoon, celebrity chef Aaron May brought out one of the weekend’s most eclectic panels featuring Teddy Swims, Jimmy Butler of the Golden State Warriors, and pop artist Jon Bellion. What began as a cocktail-making session quickly evolved into an impromptu karaoke party when Butler shocked the audience by belting out “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton and  the Jesse McCartney classic “Beautiful Soul.” The NBA star’s surprisingly committed performance instantly became one of the day’s most talked-about moments.

New Orleans Flavor Takes Over the Stage

New Orleans flavor arrived in full force when legendary chef Emeril Lagasse and his son E.J. Lagasse hosted an authentic crawfish boil demonstration. While hometown rap icon Lil Wayne was scheduled to appear and ultimately did not show, comedian Chelsea Handler kept the energy high while promoting her new canned vodka lemonade beverage. The segment still delivered one of the tastiest presentations of the weekend, complete with giant pots of crawfish and classic Louisiana seasoning aromas filling the crowd area.

Friday evening closed with chef and television personality Andrew Zimmern teaming up with Rev Run, Justine Simmons, and baseball legend turned photographer Ken Griffey Jr. to assemble a massive steak sandwich. It was clear all of these celebrities knew their way around the kitchen as they took on culinary duties reminding attendees why BottleRock’s culinary stage remains unlike anything else on the festival circuit.

Saturday Delivers the Weekend’s Biggest Crowd Moments

Saturday may have delivered the weekend’s strongest overall lineup. Early in the afternoon, television personalities Phil Rosenthal and Fred Armisen joined actors John Stamos and Adam Devine for a chef-driven tasting panel spotlighting some of the festival’s standout food vendors. Chef Philip Tessier of Press and Understudy presented arguably the most buzzworthy item at BottleRock: a lobster corndog topped with Tsar Nicoulai caviar. Chef Masaharu Morimoto later arrived to create a giant sushi roll with the group, adding a theatrical finish to one of the most food-focused segments of the weekend.

Pots, Pans, and Rock Star Energy

The afternoon turned louder when Tre Cool took over hosting duties. Chef Nyesha Arrington created a BottleRock Bodega concept onstage while Busta Rhymes unexpectedly failed to appear. Zimmern once again jumped in as the weekend’s unofficial utility player, helping fill the gap. Meanwhile, Stamos and Tre Cool entertained the audience with a hilarious pots-and-pans drum battle that felt more like a backstage jam session than a cooking demo.

One of the weekend’s signature moments arrived when humanitarian chef José Andrés teamed up with Dave Grohl before Foo Fighters headlined the main stage Saturday night. Together they prepared traditional Spanish gazpacho in a segment that quickly spiraled into joyful chaos. Grohl hammered away on pots and pans as makeshift drums while the pair drank wine directly from a traditional Spanish porrón alongside the crowd. In a surprisingly heartfelt moment, Grohl also brought out a birthday cake to celebrate his wife’s 50th birthday, turning the culinary stage into a family celebration.

Sunday Mixes Sports, Pasta, and Pop Culture

Sunday continued the momentum with another mix of sports, music, and culinary creativity. Antoni Porowski joined Gavin Rossdale and Olympic gold medalist Hilary Knight to prepare chicken katsu sandwiches while Knight proudly displayed her Olympic gold medal to cheering fans gathered near the stage barricades.

Later in the day, celebrated Los Angeles chef Evan Funke from Mother Wolf demonstrated pizza-making techniques using a Gozney pizza oven alongside supermodel Ashley Graham, who showcased her Lucci Lambrusco wine. Although rapper BigXthaPlug never appeared, Funke’s charisma and storytelling easily carried the segment.

A Star-Studded Finale for the Culinary Stage

The evening crowd surged when brothers Bryan Voltaggio and Michael Voltaggio teamed up with Vanessa Hudgens and Backstreet Boys for an edible artistic adventure that blended playful competition with elaborate plating techniques.

Closing out the culinary stage Sunday night was chef Curtis Stone alongside rapper and actor Ludacris. The duo prepared fresh ravioli while Stone’s youngest son joined in playing drums and helping make pasta, ending the weekend on a heartfelt family note that perfectly reflected BottleRock’s personality.

Why the Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage Remains Essential BottleRock

What makes the Williams Sonoma Culinary Stage so compelling is that it never feels scripted. Whether it is Dave Grohl turning cookware into a drum kit, Jimmy Butler unexpectedly breaking into karaoke, or chefs improvising around missing celebrity guests, the stage thrives on spontaneity. In a festival packed with world-class music performances, the culinary stage once again proved that some of BottleRock’s most memorable moments happen nowhere near the main stage.
