Since its opening on June 26, 1927, the Cyclone has been a central part of the Coney Island Amusement District and remains one of Luna Park’s most treasured attractions. Located at the corner of Surf Avenue and West 10th Street, the wooden roller coaster reaches speeds of up to 60 miles per hour and spans 2,640 feet of thrilling track.

“We’re incredibly proud to preserve the legacy of the Coney Island Cyclone and provide unforgettable experiences on this historic coaster year after year,” said Alessandro Zamperla, President and CEO of Central Amusement International, Inc. “This American icon has captivated guests for nearly a century, and our dedicated team ensures that this legendary 97-year-old attraction continues to operate safely and smoothly. We’re always excited to welcome riders each season.”

Designated a New York City Landmark in 1988 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, the Cyclone has been featured in films, music videos, and art, solidifying its place as a cultural icon. Known as the “Mother of roller coasters” and the “Big Momma” of Coney Island, the Cyclone remains a must-do experience for visitors to Brooklyn and New York City.
