U.S. Virgin Islands Announce St. Thomas Carnival Dates

The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism has announced that the St. Thomas Carnival will be held from April 28-May 5, 2024. It is projected that the 2024 iteration of the annual festival will be the largest to date. The 72nd annual Carnival celebration will feature long-standing traditions, such as pageants for the Queen, Prince and Princess, Calypso Monarch, Pan-O-Rama, and one of the region’s best J’ouvert parties. The annual Carnival will also include the highly anticipated parade through the capital of Charlotte Amalie, featuring thousands of masqueraders, moko jumbie dancers and floats adorned in vibrant colors as they traverse the two mile long route.

“I am excited to welcome everyone to join us for the 2024 St. Thomas Carnival,” said Joseph Boschulte, U.S. Virgin Islands Commissioner of Tourism. “This year, we are preparing to make this the best Carnival yet, highlighting our rich culture, picturesque island, and beautiful people.”

In addition to enjoying the region’s breathtaking beaches and beautiful European architecture, revelers can also experience many unique encounters during the festival. The St. Thomas Carnival Boat Races are always a fan favorite. Top-tier musical performances are available for free during Village Nights. Performances will feature regional music such as Latin fusion, calypso, soca, reggae and quelbe music. It would not be a Caribbean festival without an emphasis on food. On May 1st, the rich and diverse cuisine of the region will be on display during the food fair.

United States citizens traveling from the U.S. mainland or Puerto Rico do not need a passport to visit the Virgin Islands. Entry requirements for non-U.S. citizens are equivalent to entering the United States from any international country. Upon departure, a passport is required for non-U.S. citizens.
