The annual signature event, “The Greasing of the Poles,” hosted by the Royal Sonesta New Orleans, is set to take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 9, with the 2024 theme being “The R’evolution of Greasing” in honor of the long-standing and recently relaunched Restaurant R’evolution.

Established in 1968, the 54th annual event originated as a practical measure by the Royal Sonesta New Orleans to deter enthusiastic revelers from climbing the support poles to the balconies.

Renowned actor, author, and business owner Bryan Batt, a local New Orleanian, will act as the master of ceremonies, overseeing Greasing contestants as they vie for the coveted title of the 2024 Greasing Champion.

This year’s lineup features Louisiana native and reality TV star Trishelle Cannatella (featured on the current season of “Traitors”), TikTok F&B trendsetter Triece Tabb, aka @BukuTriece, the beloved 610 Stomper Dan “Maude” Sullivan, and social media personality known for her food and beverage content, Emily Smith, aka @fleurdelicious.

Special appearances will be made by The Merry Antoinettes, the 2023 Greasing of the Poles Champion Brooke Laizer, and the 2022 champion Greg Kata.

To enhance the celebration, the hotel’s balconies will be adorned with a custom installation by Badass Balloon Co. Additionally, the globally beloved champagne house Moët & Chandon will return to contribute to the festive atmosphere.
