Kenny Chesney will be the next legendary musician to headline the iconic Sphere in Las Vegas. The 17,600 capacity venue has previously hosted residencies by U2, Dead & Company, Eagles, Phish and Afterlife Presents Anyma. In May, Chesney will begin his 12-date residency.
“This has been a hard secret to keep,” says Chesney. “We’ve shot footage for these shows since the tour started last year. I kept thinking the news would break. But, I wanted to share it somewhere special and give it the moment it deserved. Following Rock & Roll Hall of Famers U2, the Eagles and Dead + Co, plus Phish into Sphere is a massive honor.”
Following an appearance on the TODAY show, Chesney went to Times Square to see his name across the electronic billboards, wrapping one of the buildings with the official ad mat for the residency as well as live concert videos. “If you’re going to make history, show up and honor the moment,” Chesney said. “You’re only going to announce something this groundbreaking once, and if you’re rolling by this amount of your name or face up in lights, pull over and document the moment.”
Crafting the Experience
“I’m always looking for ways to deepen the way No Shoes Nation experiences this music,” Chesney says of his decision to make 2025’s tour a trip to the next-level venue. “Over the years, they have shown me through their own response to these songs how passionate they are about what they mean, how these songs are part of their lives. When people give you that much heart, I want to give them even more.”

Venue Technology
Sphere features 167,000 individual speakers, dialed into each section with precision that is not found elsewhere in the world. A 160,000 square foot screen envelopes the audience, delivering 171 million pixels that deliver fully immersive visuals on the world’s highest resolution LED display. Because of the advancement of the technology used herein, a special camera had to be developed exclusively for Sphere’s configuration. The venue features 4D technologies as well, including haptic seats.
The eight-time Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year said yes to performing at the venue without having attended a concert there. “When we started talking, I flew to Vegas with my key tour team,” said Chesney. “We stood on the floor as they ran the film of U2’s show and we were completely consumed. We could see the band, but it was so much more than that. It almost took what they were doing and multiplied it by another dimension.”
“Knowing how much intensity our shows generate, my mind started thinking about all the things we could do,” Chesney said. “Once you see how the show wraps all the way around you, the dreaming begins.” For almost a year, Chesney and his team have been working with the Sphere Studios tech and creative team to create a unique experience for ticket holders.
