Waldorf Astoria New York to Debut Lex Yard in Spring 2025

In 2025, Waldorf Astoria New York will debut its two-story American Brasserie-style signature restaurant, Lex Yard. The restaurant embraces the effervescent energy of New York, between its lively bar and understatedly elegant dining room. Contemporary American fare will be curated by Chef Michael Anthony. An emphasis on seasonal ingredients is on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Locals, residents of the Waldorf Astoria and guests alike are welcome to experience what Lex Yard has to offer.

“I’m honored to be opening Lex Yard in Waldorf Astoria New York, a hotel that represents iconic New York luxury,” said Chef Partner Michael Anthony, Waldorf Astoria New York. “My favorite restaurants are approachable, offer a personalized experience to guests and don’t take themselves too seriously. This is what we will focus on at Lex Yard, creating a space for guests to enjoy elevated American food and excellent service with their family, friends, and business partners, time and time again.”

A Name Steeped in Adventure

Lex Yard grabbed its name from the hotel’s Lexington Avenue location and Track 61. There are urban legends of secret travels taken by famous hotel guests via the historic train depot directly below the property. This sense of exploration will also be encapsulated in the culinary experience at Lex Yard. From the hubbub of the downstairs bar to the refined dining area upstairs, guests will be in for an adventure. The restaurant will be great for all occasions, from business meetings to fine dining. Lex Yard will also be available for private events after its opening.

“Lex Yard will offer a neighborhood dining destination for New York, by New York,” said Luigi Romaniello, managing director, Waldorf Astoria New York. “Chef Michael Anthony brings a wealth of culinary expertise and a passion for exceptional dining to Lex Yard, and we are excited for travelers, residents and the local community to experience the artistry and dedication that will define our menu.”

Embracing New York City Past & Present Through Design

Waldorf Astoria New York’s Art Deco Spirit and modern elegance provide the focal point for AvroKO’s design for Lex Yard. Downstairs, guests will experience legendary hospitality in the vibrant bar. Art Deco elements, brass and leather will complement the terrazzo-clad bar die, with beautiful brushed brass trim and dark turquoise leather panels. Playful nods to the city will adorn this area, including green table lamps inspired by old subway entrance lighting. Upstairs, calm and timeless beauty are delivered with fluted columns, white oak parquet floors and a chandelier of glass, stone and brass. Each floor hosts two separate private dining rooms, allowing for eight guests individually or sixteen total when combined.

Menus Built Upon Sustainable Agriculture

Chef Michael Anthony’s menus are a nod to his passion for sustainable agriculture. The James Beard Award-winning chef works with local farmers and producers to gather seasonal ingredients for his locally sourced dishes. An a la carte menu as well as a set, seasonal menu will be offered. The latter will contain four savory courses as well as a dessert course. Both menus will feature fresh vegetables, high quality meat products from family farms, local oysters and sustainably caught seafood.

“Seasonal ingredients are the starting point of our menu choices, so diners can expect Lex Yard to tell a story of the people and places that produce the most exciting foods in this region by the ingredients that we choose to put on the plate,” said Chef Michael Anthony. “My most memorable meals have always been anchored to a specific place and time. I hope to bring that to Waldorf Astoria New York and add to the dialog of what makes dining in New York City unique.”
