Hilton Adds Art Nouveau-Inspired Hotel Elmbank York in UK

Earlier this month, Tapestry Collection by Hilton added Elmbank York to its brand as its second property in the UK. Elmbank York joins Tapestry Collection as part of a franchise agreement with Cairn Hotel Group. It is a 62-room hotel overlooking the Knavesmire Strays. Its restaurant, Leetham’s Brasserie, serves seasonal British cuisine. Guests who wish to enjoy a cocktail in opulence should visit the hotel’s Peacock Bar.

“We are seeing growing demand for our lifestyle brands in the UK, as travelers increasingly seek out distinctive, locally inspired stays,” says Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President, development, EMEA, Hilton. “The opening of Elmbank York, Tapestry Collection by Hilton underscores our commitment to providing truly unique, authentic experiences for guests, and we look forward to working closely with Cairn Hotel Group to bring this vision to life.”

The property was a 19th century mansion that was home to the city’s elite and a venue for lavish parties. One of the UK’s finest Art Nouveau collections resides inside Elmbank’s main house. The collection includes brilliant stained glass, stunning murals and detailed stencils. Guests can take in a piece of history while enjoying modern amenities.

Elmbank York is located on The Mount, a pleasant area that is a brief walk from the historic city center. Due to its location, it offers guests convenient access to York Racecourse, Goddards Garden, Treasurer’s House and York Castle Museum. One of Europe’s best-preserved medieval shopping streets, The Shambles, is nearby.

“We are thrilled to launch the first Tapestry Collection property in the North of England, continuing our longstanding relationship with Hilton,” said Aneil Handa, Director of the Cairn Group. “The Elmbank Hotel’s rich history and exceptional Art Nouveau collection offer a distinctive experience that aligns perfectly with the Tapestry brand, providing guests with a unique blend of local charm and high standards of service.”
