Princess Cruises Reveals Name of Second Sphere Class Ship

Princess Cruises has revealed that its second sphere class ship is named Star Princess. Set to debut in August 2025, Star Princess will sail its inaugural season in the Mediterranean. The ship is currently under construction in Italy and slated to be 20% larger than any of the line’s existing fleet. It will be 1133 feet in length and have 21 decks. That said, sustainability is a priority and the ship will utilize liquified natural gas (LNG) fuel technology. Once completed, Star Princess will weigh in at 175,500 tons and carry 4,300 guests.

“We’ve carefully designed these ships to feel familiar to our guests yet significantly advanced with lots of exceptional new and expanded experiences to embrace and explore,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises.

Star Princess features:

  • The Dome, a transformational entertainment venue inspired by the terraces of Santorini;
  • The Piazza, featuring a glass sphere
  • Princess Arena, which is a configurable, technologically-advanced theater that will produce a variety of entertainment concepts
  • A majestic dining room positioned aft of the ship to deliver unforgettable wake views.

The ship will offer 2,150 guest cabins, including luxurious staterooms and suites, as well as the new Reserve and Signature Collection suites. There will also be delightful new food and beverage concepts, an expanded casino, a two-story Lotus spa and out of this world entertainment by Cirque Éloize.

Star Princess debuts August 4, 2025 with a nine-day roundtrip voyage of Italy & Greece. The trip will begin in Rome and feature Corfu, Kotor, Mykonos, Santorini and Naples. After that inaugural trip, a variety of 9 or 10 day cruises will be available from Rome, Athens or Venice with stops at beautiful coastal ports. Star Princess cruises go on sale June 1, 2023.
