Holland America Line + Jefferson’s Bourbon Partner In First-Of-Its-Kind Collaboration

By the end of April, all eleven Holland America Line ships will carry their own exclusive barrel of Jefferson’s Ocean Bourbon. Jefferson’s has completed 35 bottled voyages with cargo and fishing vessels for its Ocean Aged at Sea Bourbon Series, but this collaboration marks the brand’s first time partnering with a cruise line.

At the beginning of March, Jefferson’s Bourbon brought one barrel aboard each ship in Holland America Line’s fleet. For at least six months, each barrel will sail, developing flavor, depth and finish along its journey. Onboard activations and educational tastings offer cruisers a peek into the spirit’s aging process. Each barrel will yield roughly 150 to 300 bottles of the spirit that will return to the ship for guests to enjoy in 2027, expanding upon Holland America Line’s Single Barrel Program.

“This partnership with Jefferson’s Bourbon is another way we’re setting ourselves apart through experiences that are too good to hurry through,” said Drew Foulk, director of food and beverage revenue and innovation at Holland America Line. “Aging bourbon aboard our ships and offering it exclusively back to guests later reflects our commitment to beverage programs that are shaped by the journey itself.”

Partnership Celebrating Exploration, Independence & Craftsmanship

Jefferson’s Bourbon, founded in 1997 by father/son duo Trey and Chet Zoeller, continues a family legacy of whiskey making that began with Trey’s grandmother. She was one of the first women in the country whose impact on American whiskey production was documented.

“We are thrilled to partner with Holland America Line to embark on a truly unique adventure,” commented Zoeller. “By placing Jefferson’s Ocean barrels on their cruise ships, we’re diving into a quest to see how different routes and voyages (meaning different climates and agitation) influence the taste, smell, and mouthfeel of our whiskey. I truly appreciate Holland America’s dedication to experimentation and innovation, allowing us to craft a one-of-a-kind experience for their guests. The whiskey they enjoy will be exclusive to their ships, available only once the voyage is complete. Jefferson’s Ocean is a true treasure to savor and share.”

Holland America Line has also partnered with other notable American brands to celebrate the nation’s diverse heritage for America’s 250th. For the occasion, stationery brand Crane created an exclusive collection of cards crafted by the United States Veterans’ Artists Alliance. The brand’s fleet and signature tulip inspired the designs of the cards. Additionally, Pendleton Woolen Mills created a limited-edition, numbered Alaska themed throw blanket. These keepsakes made by the Pacific Northwest lifestyle brand are available for purchase on ships sailing to Alaska this year.

As the July 4th milestone draws near, more co-branded offerings and brand collaborations will be announced.

Forthcoming Unique Cruises

In celebration of America’s 250th, Holland America Line is offering America’s 250th Celebration: Stars and Stripes cruise. It includes fireworks over the historic Boston skyline, classic picnic foods and The Soundtrack of America live music tribute. Other influential cities in the United States’ history, including Norfolk and New York, are on the voyage’s itinerary.

In 2027, a 28-day Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage will set sail following the Pan Am Historic Clipper routes. The cruise celebrates the golden age of global travel by visiting 18 ports along the Pan Am Great Circle Route.
