Photos: Krewe of Chaos Brings Political Satire To Mardi Gras

According to Greek mythology, Chaos was the void out of which the universe and all its gods were created. In 2000, the Knights of Chaos filled the void created when the Knight of Momus stopped parading in 1992 after 100 years. Chaos presents a satirical political parade each year. This year the parade featured 16 floats.

The krewe has over 200 all-male riders and parades on the Thursday before Fat Tuesday (traditionally known as “Momus Thursday.”) The parade follows the Uptown route before Krewe of Muses rolls. The Knights of Chaos never reveal the king’s identity or the parade theme ahead of time.

Some of the floats even got in on a sports theme this year.
