Mover & Shaker’s Hair Of The Corn Dog Pop Up Was The Perfect Way To Say Farewell to Tales Of The Cocktail

The last event we had the pleasure of attending at the 2024 Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans was the Hair of the Corn Dog by Rittenhouse Rye, a Mover & Shaker Pop-Up. From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., invited guests gathered at the Cane and Table bar and restaurant for an afternoon of cocktails, merchandise, and good fun.

Mover & Shaker is a laid-back company that caters to everything a bartender could need. The company designs and produces barware products and merchandise centered around all things liquor and bartending culture. Mover & Shaker also has a large social media presence where they post bartender memes and mingle within the bartender community.

The event was sponsored by Heaven Hill Distillery and their Rittenhouse Rye Whisky and Mellow Corn. The brand has won multiple Gold awards in the past six years at various spirits competitions. The Rye and Mellow Corn have been described as having a hint of spice and notes of sweetness, even when mixed into a cocktail, making them some of the most used mixers for bartenders.

Some of the greatest bartenders from near and far gathered together at this event making it seem like a Camp Runamok reunion. Everyone was laughing and having a great time and enjoying the fun layback shot options at the bar. You could choose a layback shot of Hypnotiq, mustard, or ketchup, in true corndog fashion.

The drink menu’s art and drink titles were all based around the 1990’s cartoon sitcom, The Ren & Stimpy Show. The show follows a chihuahua and cat who go on silly adventures together. One side of the drink menu could be read with provided 3D glasses, bringing the menu to life and adding a fun aspect to the daunting task of picking a drink. Snacks and a large charcuterie board of small bites was available to guests for a mid-afternoon snack.

The menu featured four different cocktail options. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy was a citrus cocktail made with Rittenhouse, Pama, sweet vermouth, lemon, and grapefruit soda. Carmelly Carmelly Corny Corn was crafted with Mellow Corn, Hypnotiq, lemon, and passionfruit Liquid IV simple syrup. The You Filthy Swine cocktail consisted of Rittenhouse, Mellow Corn, bloody mix, roasted corn simple syrup, and lime. Lastly on the menu was the Don’t Whiz On The Electric Fence cocktail made with Mellow Corn, mango, guava, ginger, almond orgeat, Domaine De Canton, and citrus.
