At The Historic Swoop-Duggins House in New Orleans, a private venue, the Tales of the Cocktail event continued with an exclusive Angel’s Envy Bourbon tasting experience and the opportunity to meet Master Distiller Owen Martin & the Global Head of Brand Education, Angel Teta. This “Bourbon & Bliss” event had specialty food pairings with your cocktails and product giveaways throughout the day.
From 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., guests attending Tales of the Cocktail conference were invited to stop by the Swoop-Duggins House to grab a drink and chat about the art of distilling spirits with Owen Martin. While sipping and sampling different bourbons, Martin answered questions about distilling, the company’s vision when it comes to making their bourbon special, and some of his favorite sips.
Angel’s Envy was founded in Kentucky by Bourbon Hall of Fame member and Master Distiller, Lincoln Henderson, and his son Wes Henderson. The brand has crafted and redefined classic bourbon to offer an unparalleled tasting experience. The distillers that craft this fine spirit taste the product during each part of production to ensure it is up to their high standards. The name comes from Henderson claiming the brand “struck a better deal than the angels.”
The beverage menu had four different cocktail options to choose from. Take A Relax was a rye bourbon with Bacardi, lime, passionfruit and banana. Sunshine Shady was a port barrel finished whiskey with Cassis Noir de Bourgogne and grapefruit radler. No, You Quit It was bourbon with blood orange, bitters, and champagne foam. Lastly, they offered Super Hugo, a bourbon topped off with St. Germain, sparkling wine, and soda.
The event had a cute giveaway with custom designed keychains with selected charms and a great swag bag with Angel’s Envy items including a scented candle and cold eye mask to help you relax after a long day at Tales events. I was also treated to a special chair massage session upstairs at the venue that was scheduled upon arrival. It was the perfect reset in the middle of the day in New Orleans.
As we all sipped on our wonderfully crafted cocktails, a small jazz band serenaded the crowd with fun songs like “Gin and Juice” by Snoop Dogg and songs by Prince. The Swoop-Duggins House where the event was hosted was the perfect little place to have such an intimate event. The brick walls, gorgeous greenery, and expansive bar made for a nice evening out in Downtown New Orleans.
