Historic Luxury in the Heart of Detroit: Inside the Iconic Westin Book Cadillac Hotel

Right in the heart of downtown Detroit stands a landmark that has witnessed nearly a century of the city’s vibrant history — the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel. First opened in 1924, this Neo-Renaissance masterpiece has welcomed everyone from presidents to rock ’n’ roll legends, offering guests a luxurious blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Just steps from iconic Detroit destinations like Ford Field, Comerica Park, and the scenic RiverWalk, the Westin Book Cadillac is more than just a place to stay — it’s an experience steeped in elegance, legacy, and the unmistakable spirit of Motor City.

The Westin Book Cadillac hotel was built in 1924 to bring life and business to the downtown Detroit area. The rooms of the historic hotel have housed legendary celebrities like Lou Gehrig, the Beatles, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., just to name a few. As of 2023, the hotel underwent a $23 million renovation that restored it to its current luxurious Neo-Renaissance style.

Each room holds an uber-comfortable Westin Heavenly® Bed and Westin Heavenly® Bath, attending to all your wellness needs away from home. In each bathroom, Westin White Tea Heavenly™ amenities and deluxe robes are available. High speed internet and desk space are a part of every room, as well as a 65-in flat screen TV, and 24/7 access to the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio that features state-of-the-art equipment. You can even book a room with a gorgeous view of the city with Canada in the distance.
