Reputation Reborn: Celebrating World Snake Day with Taylor Swift’s Most Iconic Era

Happy World Snake Day, the day we honor as the conception of Taylor Swift’s 2017 Reputation album and her incredible ability to turn a bad situation in her favor.

Nine years ago, Kim Kardashian tweeted in reference to Taylor, inspiring an insane level of online bullying that Taylor embraced with iconic snake imagery and new music. For months, people were posting snakes on her every comment, post and even on random articles about the pop star.

Now it’s a positive. She wears snake print clothing, has giant snakes on stage, and her fans post snakes in support rather than against her.

Snakes have long been misunderstood creatures—both in nature and pop culture. Just as Taylor Swift reclaimed the snake as a symbol of resilience and rebirth, World Snake Day is an opportunity to reframe how we think about these fascinating reptiles. With over 3,000 species found around the world, snakes play vital roles in controlling pest populations and maintaining balanced ecosystems. They’re natural rodent control experts, and many are key indicators of environmental health.

And let’s not forget, snakes can also symbolize transformation. From shedding skin to becoming cultural icons, their presence in folklore, mythology, and yes—Reputation Stadium Tours—reminds us that change, though uncomfortable, can be empowering. Taylor’s era of snakes wasn’t just about clapping back; it was about stepping into a new phase with unapologetic confidence. For Swifties, the snake isn’t scary—it’s sacred.

So whether you’re a herpetology enthusiast, a devoted Swiftie, or just someone who appreciates a good metaphor, today’s the day to celebrate snakes in all forms. Post your favorite Reputation-era lyric, visit a local nature center to meet some scaly friends, or just spend a few minutes learning about how snakes contribute to the planet. After all, in the words of Taylor herself: “I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time”—and that’s exactly the kind of snake energy we’re channeling today.

World Snake day is devoted to celebrating and preserving the diversity of snakes and their importance to world ecology. 2025 is also the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese Zodiac, so there are plenty of opportunities to join in snake-tivities.
