The krewedelusion parade, originally planned for tonight, was called off, as stated in a press release issued by the krewe. A krewe spokesperson explained that unexpected costs and the challenge of rescheduling the event twice in two years were contributing factors to the cancellation.
Krewedelusion was established in 2009 and is one of the city’s popular satirical parades. Its mission: “to save the Universe, beginning at its center – New Orleans.” Its slogan: “Organization is Delusion.” This unique parade krewe, comprised “innerkrewes,” keeps its annual theme a secret until the actual day of the parade.
Throughout its 14-year history, the krewedelusion parade has been a delightful counterpart to the lively Krewe du Vieux parade, traversing the Marigny and French Quarter. While last year saw the krewedelusion parade granted its own dedicated night, it failed to attract the usual number of spectators when presented as a standalone event.
In 2024, krewedelusion was reinstated to its traditional Saturday slot with Krewe du Vieux. However, as the parade day approached, the participation count remained uncertain and was ultimately canceled.
The postponement of the 2024 “Night of Delusion” parade is now rescheduled for February 15, 2025. The City of New Orleans has assured the preservation of krewedelusion’s traditional parade route. New and existing Innerkrewes can reserve spots for the 2025 parade at krewedelusion.net, with a new joining fee of $40.00.
Mardi Gras is February 13, 2024 in New Orleans but there are weeks of celebrations and parades leading up to the main event. These neighborhood walking parades are fun for the whole family
