Southwest Offers “Wanna Get Away” Sale

Now through 11:59PM on January 25th, you can take advantage of the “Wanna Get Away” Sale through Southwest Airlines. If you missed the week of WOW sale, this is your next opportunity for big savings from Southwest. The “Wanna Get Away” sale is valid on one-way flights for Tuesdays and Wednesdays between February 6th-May 22nd. The discounted fares are only good for the “Wanna Get Away” fare classes, which happen to be nonrefundable. However, if you do need to cancel your flight for any reason, you can receive a flight credit for future travel. While that restriction definitely puts a damper on things, there are no blackout dates and numerous routes that are at a much more affordable price, so this sale could be helpful if you’re trying to book the perfect spring break getaway and have flexibility on what days you can travel.

There aren’t a ton of flights at the dirt-cheap price of $39, but we did find a few:

  • Chicago (MDW) to Cincinnati (CVG)
  • Minneapolis (MSP) to Chicago (MDW)
  • Louisville (SDF) to Chicago (MDW)

All Southwest fare types include two free checked bags, two free carry-on items and free in-flight entertainment and messaging. To truly maximize rewards during this sale, sign up for Rapid Rewards. The program allows Southwest flyers to rack up points for flights, gift cards, merchandise, hotels, rental cars and more. Guests can use their Rapid Rewards points towards flight purchases with this sale, but will have to pay the September 11th Security Fee of $5.60 per one-way flight. Paying for a flight with a credit card that earns bonus points on airfare purchases will provide even more bang for your buck.

No discount code is necessary to take advantage of this sale, but restrictions and exclusions apply. 21-day advance purchase is required. Seats and days are limited and this offer is not valid in all markets. For more information or to book your flights, visit www.southwest.com.
