On May 23rd from 7-9PM, the Brooke Smith photography exhibition will open and Smith will be on-site for a book signing. The book, Sunday Matinee, documents the Hardcore punk scene of Manhattan’s Lower East Side in the 80s through the lens of Smith’s Minolta. The 160 page book will be available for purchase in the gift store.

Additionally, the museum will have special events the week of the Punk Rock Bowling Festival, which takes place May 24th-27th. Things will kick off May 22nd with the “Not A Boys Club” show featuring live sets from Las Nalgonas and DJ Dani Darks. On May 23rd, Jake Kolatis will DJ at the Triple Down beginning at 9PM. During the festival, the parking lot of the museum will transform into a Punk Party Plaza, featuring activities like the Wheel of Misfortune, Mohawk cuts from Sinister Salon and Girls Rock Vegas will perform. From May 24th-27th, there will also be a variety of events planned with Swami John Reis (Hot Snakes, Drive Like Jehu, Rocket From The Crypt, PLOSIVS and more). Reis is releasing a new Swami and the Bed of Nails single, “Privacy”, and will debut the new record at a listening party at the museum. He will DJ at the museum’s bar, the Triple Down, and has a few tricks up his sleeve for his guided tours. The “Privacy” 7” will be available for sale and to be autographed at the museum. A Gogol Bordello Takeover will happen from May 28th-29th. Singer Eugene Hütz will give guided tours both days.
