Holiday Magic Arrives at the Harry Potter Shops in New York & Chicago

If you’re looking to add a little wizarding wonder to your holiday season, the Harry Potter Shops in New York and Chicago have officially transformed for the holidays—and this year’s celebration is more enchanting than ever. Beginning today, both locations unveil their festive Snow Globe–themed décor, new seasonal treats, hands-on activities, and plenty of magical surprises designed for witches, wizards, and Muggles alike.

A Snow Globe Fantasy Brought to Life

Stepping into either shop feels like entering a holiday storybook. Window displays sparkle with snow-globe magic, and the stores are filled with wintry touches inspired by iconic moments from the Wizarding World. Whether you’re browsing for gifts, soaking up the atmosphere, or simply snapping photos, both shops fully embrace the charm that Harry Potter fans love during the holiday season.

Hot Butterbeer Makes Its Cozy Debut

For the first time ever, visitors can sip Hot Butterbeer at both locations—a warm, sweet, creamy version of the iconic drink. To celebrate the launch, each shop is offering a special toppings bar for one week only, featuring Butterbeer Caramel Sauce, Cookie Crumble, Cinnamon Dusting, and even Butterbeer Chocolate Frogs. Early birds on November 12 were treated to a free cup, but fans who stop by through November 19 can still enjoy complimentary toppings with any Butterbeer purchase.

Shoppers will also find exclusive winter merchandise perfect for gifting: Hedwig-inspired hoodies, Mrs. Weasley’s classic Christmas jumpers, Hogsmeade mini snow globes, “Hogwarts in the Snow” mugs, and more magical surprises sprinkled throughout the shop.

Interactive Experiences for Fans of All Ages

The holidays here aren’t just about shopping—both stores are offering a range of immersive experiences:

  • Life-Size Snow Globe Photo Op: Step inside a whimsical snow globe scene created just for the season—perfect for holiday cards or Instagram.
  • Tree Trail Scavenger Hunt: Pick up a map and follow a themed trail of decorated trees around the store. Solve the code at the end and you’ll earn a special “Holidays at Hogwarts” collectible pin.
  • Complimentary Guided Tours: Each Tuesday through Thursday until Christmas Eve, fans can join free 20-minute tours that spotlight seasonal décor, fan-favorite corners of the store, and real props from the films. Tours are first-come, first-served and limited to 10 people.
  • Broomstick Adventure in NYC: Visitors to the New York shop can hop on a broomstick and take a photo soaring over snowy Hogwarts—with optional ornament frames so you can hang the magic on your tree.

Spread Holiday Warmth: Dobby-Approved Sock Donation

In the true spirit of the season, the shops are once again hosting a charitable sock drive inspired by Dobby the House-Elf. Fans can donate new, packaged socks at any register from November 12 through December 24. All donations support local organizations: Cradles to Crayons in Chicago and Knock Knock Give a Sock in New York.
