Blue Zone Living Inspires Spa at Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia

At Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia, spa guests are being pampered with three new experiences inspired by blue zone living. In Sardinia, three areas – Ogliastra, Barbagia di Ollolai and Barbagia of Seulo – are designated blue zones, areas of the world where locals live longest due to unique dietary and lifestyle factors. These healthy choices inspired Sardinia native Giulia Piras, the spa manager at Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia, to develop three exclusive treatments for their guests.

“In these treatments, we use local products such as myrtle essential oil, juniper, lavender, and honey cream, all of which are native to Sardinia,” Piras said. “I developed three experiences: I called them experiences because they transcend the conventional massage or ritual. They also include activities outside the Conrad Spa.”

The three experiences crafted by Piras are:

On the Salt Route

This experience, which is limited to four guests at a time, transports its guests a few kilometers away to the Conti-Vecchi salt marshes. Once there, they board a train for a tour of the protected archaeological white salt marshes which also serve as a haven for hundreds of pink flamingos. Upon returning to the spa, guests receive an 80-minute exfoliation service incorporating salt from the marshes as well as Sardinian aromatic plants.

On the Honey Route

Guests who have selected this experience will learn about the history of the territory in which honey was produced while tasting different honeys. The service includes a soothing body mask and massage, with herbal tea featuring Sardinian honey and ginger served as well.

On the Wood Route

Sardinia’s centuries-old forests are honored in this third experience option. To connect spa guests to nature, the treatment includes nature sounds, the scent of Mediterranean essential oils and a massage that utilizes citrus wood cream that was crafted exclusively for this service.
