BARK Launches BARK Air To Offer Premium Flights For Dogs

BARK, a leading global brand dedicated to keeping dogs happy, has partnered with a jet charter to launch BARK Air. BARK Air addresses the traveling issues dog parents face, such as dogs being confined to a bag, flying in cargo or denied travel altogether. This partnership offers a more humane option for dogs to travel alongside their humans. It is the world’s first air travel experience prioritizing dogs’ needs & comfort while creating an environment for them to travel together with their owners. These flights are available to book now, with the first flights departing New York on Thursday, May 23rd.

“When we started BARK in 2011, we were on a mission to disrupt the dog space and create products designed for dogs and their humans. We are excited to take the insights we’ve learned over the years to create an experience that is truly dog-first, which is drastically different from just accepting dogs – from the ground to the skies,” said Matt Meeker, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at BARK. “We believe this initiative will elevate awareness of our brand’s mission and values, introduce more dog lovers to the BARK family, and help enrich the lives of dogs and their people around the world.”

The Travel Process:

  • After booking, dog owners will be contacted by a BARK Air concierge to collect information to curate the best experience.
  • On the day of travel, dogs and their companions will check-in 45-60 minutes before takeoff.
  • Before boarding, a BARK Air concierge will welcome dogs and socialize them to prepare for the dog-centric cabin. They will also be responsible for evaluating the dog’s experience and determine if they need additional attention prior to takeoff.
  • Before boarding, the plane will receive a “Dogs Fly First” flight prep. This includes calming pheromones, music and colors to soothe the furry guests.
  • Dogs will have access to various calming aids once they board. Examples including treats, noise-canceling ear protection, and calming jackets to create an enjoyable experience.
  • During ascent and descent, dogs will be served their beverage of choice. This will help keep them from experiencing ear discomfort caused by the change in cabin pressure.
  • BARK-branded treats and surprises will be provided throughout the flight to truly give four-legged friends the first-class experience that BARK brings to all aspects of its brand. And don’t worry – humans will be pampered, too!

To begin, BARK Air will serve the New York City metro area via Westchester County Airport (HPN) with flights to Los Angeles (VNY) and London (STN). An Argus Platinum-rated charter company is responsible for the aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance related matters.
