Avelo Airlines is the first and only airline offering nonstop service between Wilmington International Airport and Punta Cana. This route is available twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, using Boeing Next-Generation 737 planes. This route expands upon the affordable and industry-leading air service Avelo introduced in June 2022 to take passengers to the Island Beaches.

Avelo currently has two Boeing Next-Generation 737s based at Wilmington International Airport. Since the airline began operating there in 2022, Avelo has served over 580,000 customers on more than 5,000 flights. In April of 2025, Wilmington International Airport became a Crewmember base and base of operations, further solidifying the airline’s investment in the location. To support the base, Avelo continues to create additional jobs, including roles for pilots, flight attendants, ground services, customer support and more.
