Loud Luxury Talks Songs Of Summer, A New Collaboration With Zac Brown And More

Loud Luxury are a Canadian duo of producers and DJ’s named Andrew Fedyk and Joe Depace. The pair are originally both from Ontario, Canada but are currently based in Los Angeles, California. They gained recognition when their 2017 single “Body” with singer Brando came out. The song went on to win a Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year in 2019. Since their debut, Loud Luxury has released two EP’s and several singles.

Their most recent single is a collaboration with artist charlieonnafriday called “Young & Foolish” which charlieonnafriday performed solo at Quebec’s 11-day music festival, FEQ. Fedyk and Depace currently have a residency in Las Vegas but they also perform around the world at music festivals and one-off venues. Together, the duo has amassed millions of online streams of their songs. Loud Luxury is touring right now around North America and most recently took the stage at FEQ.

We had an opportunity to catch up with the DJ duo before their set to chat about their favorite songs of the summer, their next country collaboration, and the cities they are most looking forward to touring in.

You guys are constantly touring. What are your must pack items?

Joe: A neck pillow is number one. A sleep mask is number two. Number three is headphones. Noise canceling headphones. Very important. Four, a laptop or an iPad so I can watch movies or work on music. Five is water. It gets really, really dry on planes.

Andrew: I found a toothpaste recently. Rather than being in liquid form, it’s just tablets. You save so much space packing and you don’t have TSA problems. It’s like 60 days of toothpaste. It saves so much space. It’s NOBS brand.

In your opinion, what’s the song of summer 2024?

Joe: I’m gonna say Sabrina Carpenter “Espresso.” I love that song.

Andrew: “Girls” by Kid Laroi. Fun song.

Have you guys found any hidden gems on the road in your travels that you tell people to visit?

Joe: Yeah, we’re basically professional wanderlust-ers. Wherever we go, depending how much time we have, we’ll go see some cool stuff.

Andrew: My favorite spot that we found that’s super underrated is in Chile, right near the border of Argentina. There’s this place called Embalse El Yeso. It’s a massive, pretty, sprawling dam Lake. It’s about an hour and a half from Santiago. That whole drive is just next level.

What’s it like being here, in your home country playing FEQ?

Joe: Quebec is one of our favorite places to play. It’s always a lot of people and the energy is always insane. Hopefully tonight is part of it, but it’s in our top five shows and places to play.

Andrew: We like it because it’s not like going to the rest of Canada. It’s its own culture. We tell everyone that, like Joe was saying, is that it feels very different here and we love it for that reason.

I loved your Kane Brown collab, “Next To You.” Do you have any more country collabs in the works?

Joe: We have a song with Zac Brown. It’s new. It’s not out yet.

What’s the name of the song? When’s it coming out?

Andrew: “People Like Us.” It’s coming out in the fall.

Any cities you’re looking forward to touring in?

Joe: We’re gonna be doing a lot of festivals this summer. We’re actually going to be doing Lolla round two. That’s gonna be crazy. That’s on my birthday. It’s always a fun one. My favorite part of that last time was some girls made a custom one-piece swimsuit that had my face on it. But because of the way that the distortion of my face was on the bikini, I looked way wider than I am. It was pretty funny.

Andrew: Montreal is going to be really fun this summer. We love playing in Montreal as well. It’s going to be a very busy no sleep summer.

So you guys are in LA now. Do you have a perfect day in LA?

Joe: The sun’s out, relaxing. Just hanging out.

Andrew: We like Santa Barbara. There’s beautiful tracks up there, lots of good restaurants, you can walk the dog.
