Diamante Talks Cover Songs, Cruises, and Crazy TSA Stories

Diamante Azzura Bovelli, better known by just her first name, is a 28-year old Boston-raised singer and songwriter. Now living in Nashville, Tennessee, Diamante has been expanding her musical career since its conception in 2017. Her incredible fashion sense and strong rock vocals have proved she is a force to be reckoned with.

In 2018, she was featured on the Bad Wolves song “Hear Me Now”, which reached number one on active rock radio. In 2019, she toured with Breaking Benjamin and has also accompanied bands like Whitesnake and Hinder. She has two of her own studio albums: Coming in Hot, and American Dream, as well as an EP titled The Diamond Covers that features popular songs reimagined by Diamante.

Her most recent single “Love Is A Battlefield” was put out in October of 2024 in preparation for her upcoming third studio album and featured on the “American Psycho” comic series soundtrack. Diamante’s most recent accomplishment is being part of a collaboration with Kittie and The Pretty Wild on a cover of Metallica’s “The Unforgiven.” The song is featured on the motion picture soundtrack for the Queen of the Ring, a film based on pro wrestler Mildred Burke.

We spoke with Diamante on ShipRocked covering her must-have travel times, her favorite ShipRocked moment, and her craziest travel story involving TSA.

I love your version of “Love Is A Battlefield.” How do you pick which cover songs you make?

Thank you. If I’m going to do a cover, I like to pick one that challenges me vocally; one that I can do justice to but can also make my own a little bit. Usually in the last chorus, I like to take the song somewhere different than it wouldn’t normally go.

I’ve photographed you over the years all across the country. You always have the best outfits. How do you pick them?

Thank you! I like to pick my own stage outfits, especially for festivals. I like to go big. I like to be obnoxious. I like to be sparkly. I like to be loud. Where else can you wear these kinds of clothes?

What are your must-have travel items?

A good pair of sneakers because I like to get my steps in. If you’re traveling and your feet hurt, that sucks. I also must have Pei Pa Koa. It’s like this new cough syrup thing that I’ve discovered that’s really amazing for your vocal cords, and emergency packets. You never want to get sick.

Have you ever done a cruise before?

I have done a cruise before. I was just there as a guest, I wasn’t performing. This is my first time performing on a cruise. It’s been so much fun being on this cruise, because I’ve wanted to do ShipRocked for so many years. I have so many friends and fans that have told me about ShipRocked, and how fun it is. They’re like, ‘Dia, you have to do it. I can’t believe you haven’t done it yet.’ I’m having the best time.

Any favorite ShipRocked moments so far?

Yeah. So many. My standout moment so far was when I did a dance off with Cookie during our Guest That Groove event. I didn’t know that was going to happen. I ended up doing the worm on the ground. That was insane. Then last night at two in the morning, at the piano bar with everyone singing songs and drinking wine. It was amazing.

What’s your craziest travel story

It’s probably when I was on tour with Whitesnake and Hinder at the same time. I had to get on a flight after a Whitesnake show to make the Hinder show, and I pulled an all-nighter. This was the first time I learned that you don’t have to say ‘yes’ to every single shot that a fan offers you. I was really, really drunk going through the TSA. I wasn’t even out of my show clothes yet, and I went off in the TSA because of the pyro, but the TSA agent backed me up and said ‘No. I was at the concert. I saw her on stage. She’s good to go.’ I’ll never forget it.

What’s your perfect day in Nashville?

I’m still trying to figure out different places that I love, but I like to walk my dog around the neighborhood. I love to go on walks with him and find a cute little place around the Franklin area to have fried chicken. I love hot fried chicken. It’s so good, or a Smashburger. My favorite so far is Jack Brown’s. Then find a dive bar.

Diamante was just announced as a Stowaway on the 2026 sailing of ShipRocked so we can’t wait to see her rock out again on the high seas.
