Setlist and Review: Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion Tour Kicks Off in Salt Lake City

Post Malone’s sixth album, F-1 Trillion, came out on August 16th and is a full country album with cameos from all your favorite country stars. The album is composed of 18 tracks, where only two songs do not feature artists such as Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Blake Shelton, and Morgan Wallen. The album pre-sold over 500k units and reached over 30 million streams in its first week.

The first singles he released from the album were “I Had Some Help” feat. Morgan Wallen, “Pour Me A Drink” feat. Blake Shelton, and “Guy For That” feat. Luke Combs, all of which have garnered positive attention from fans and country lovers. “I Had Some Help” was recently just named the song of summer by Billboard Magazine. Malone carries the entirety of the album with help from all of his special guests, even including country music legends like Hank WIlliams Jr., Tim McGraw, and Dolly Parton.

Thousands of fans gathered at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City for the first official concert of Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion Tour. It was a perfect night with temperatures in the high 70’s in a venue with picturesque views of the Rocky Mountains in the background as fans of all ages gathered to see Post Malone make his official tour debut as a country music artist.

Muscadine Bloodline, a country music duo from Mobile, Alabama took the stage around 8 p.m. to warm up the crowd for the night. Members Gary Stanton and Charlie Muncaster started the band in 2016. Since then the pair has had their Opry debut and released three acclaimed albums. They even canceled their Coastal Plain Tour to join Malone on the road for the entirety of his tour. The band brought the energy and their flawless vocals to the crowd of old and new fans delivering a solid set of their hits like “Me On You.”

Post Malone came out on stage a little after 9 p.m., drawing in cheers from the crowd wearing a Dallas Cowboys #17 Brandon Aubrey jersey and jeans praising the Cowboys win earlier in the day to a mixed reaction from the crowd. For his opening song, his band began to play “Wrong Ones.” as Posty belted out the song off his latest album.

Post Malone’s set included 24 songs that spanned his career and included White Iverson, his breakout hit to his most recent song selections from F-1 Trillion. Standout moments of the night were the first live performance of one of our favorite new tracks “What Don’t Belong To Me” and his new song “Yours” that he penned for his two-year old daughter.

Throughout the evening Post addressed the crowd about how he fell in love with Utah and ultimately moved there with his family. He spoke about how he had started to become nervous to perform in recent months and how he appreciated the welcoming atmosphere of the hometown crowd for the tour kickoff. He said he hated missing Fall in the state while away on tour and even encouraged fans to send him messages on Instagram with pictures of the trees changing colors.

At times the show felt like a toned-down version of his pyro-filled summer festival show highlighting songs off his last release “Austin.” Long time Post Malone fans were thrilled to get a taste of some of their favorite Post classics like “Circles,” “Rockstar” and “Better Now” sprinkled in between his new country tunes. In the middle of the set, Post brought up a local fan named Jackson to play “Stay” with him on the guitar. Overall, the show included 12 songs off the new album and 12 songs from Malone’s extensive catalog performed for his hometown audience.

To end out the night, Malone sang out the words to “Sunflower” along with a sold out crowd singing the every word right back. After the show Malone jumped off the stage to meet fans in the pit as the whole amphitheater chanted “Posty” in unison as the crowd filed out of the show.

While fans may be a little surprised that none of Malone’s famous duet partners were on hand to perform at the tour kickoff, tonight was all about Post Malone bringing a childhood dream of becoming a country singer to life. He sang all the songs with no guest appearances and gave the fans a special night they won’t soon forget.
