We started our morning in Boston today at the popular fast food chain Raising Cane’s which was celebrating 28 years of serving us with crispy chicken and gooey delicious Cane’s Sauce. The restaurant chain celebrated its Golden Birthday with the grand opening of its 828th location in Boston on the special day of August 28th. The golden colored storefront on Arch Street is the beginning to a “golden year.” Cane’s has pledged to give away 828 golden prizes and donate $28 million dollars to the community over the next year.
A golden birthday is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion when someone’s date of birth aligns with the age they’re turning, which is why Cane’s has decided to go all out in gold for their 28th Year.
To celebrate this special location in Boston, MLB legend David Ortiz AKA “Big Papi,” Boston Celtics star Jrue Holiday, and singer songwriter JVKE opened the restaurant in golden style. From MLB Championship trophies, NBA Championship trophies, Olympic medals, and hit single “Golden Hour” – all of the famous attendees have something gold in common.
Raising Cane’s owner and founder Todd Graves opened doors early to the press for a special conference where invited guests could ask any and all questions relating to Cane’s or the gold-winning lives of the celebrities in attendance. Graves talked about all the care and attention that goes into opening a new Raising Cane’s themed restaurant.
The Boston Golden restaurant is adorned with 10,000 linear feet of gold car vinyl wrap, gold leaf, and gold epoxy, according to Graves. To ensure consistency, the company consulted with three color experts to make sure all the gold tones matched perfectly throughout the space. The restaurant boasts an entirely gold exterior and interior, featuring golden walls, disco balls, seating, counters, floors, and even a gold cabinet displaying exclusive merchandise.
Jru Holiday and David Ortiz spoke at the press conference about how much they loved playing for the fans in the incredible city of Boston. Ortiz specifically spoke about how the people of Boston showed up everyday for the city’s teams and he knew he had to always do his best for that reason. Jru Holiday also spoke about the amazing experience of playing at the Olympics earlier in the month and bonding with other players from the NBA in Paris.
All of the special guests also spoke about how much they loved the Raising Cane’s brand. Holiday spoke about playing basketball in New Orleans for seven years and how much the chicken tenders were a regular part of his diet. Ortiz spoke about one of the secrets to success and longevity was focus and Todd Graves mentioned that was the same with Raising Cane’s having the same focus on quality and value with the same menu for 28 years.
Graves talked about how the American Dream to him is providing opportunities to people. He has employed over one million people in the 28 years of the company and loves seeing them carry on the values of the company even after they move on to other endeavors.
As hundreds of guests anxiously waited in line, Graves began the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to signify the grand opening of the golden location and the beginning of Canes’ Golden Era. Following the Ribbon Ceremony was a performance by JVKE outside the store, a TikTok famous artist who found his big break with his single “Golden Hour” that went viral in 2022.
Over 300 Raising Cane’s enthusiasts turned out for the grand opening, with some fans lining up outside the gilded restaurant overnight. Among them was Boston resident Kevin Hernandez, who secured the first spot in line by arriving at 2 a.m. As he entered the restaurant around 11 a.m. he was met with pom pom cheers to welcome him in to order his meal and take in everything the golden restaurant had to offer.
28 lucky fans waiting in line were chosen to receive free Cane’s for a year and a golden birthday cake decorated and made by Buddy Valastro, better known as the Cake Boss. Of the other 828 promised giveaways, guests can expect to receive gold Vans, real gold bars, golden jewelry, and much more. Giveaway items can be found here: www.RaisingCanesBirthday.com.
The Golden Raising Cane’s interior sparkles in anticipation of an amazing year of business ahead for Raising Cane’s. The chain plans to hold other surprise pop-up concerts, giveaways, and celebrity appearances across the country to celebrate the rest of their 28th Year. They also plan to open 100 new restaurants across new markets, remaining one of the fastest growing restaurant brands.
The new location can be found at 101 Arch St. in Boston, near the Downtown Crossing MBTA station.
