Day 9 of the 2024 Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ) was a night to remember with an incredible performance from Post Malone that ended the evening. The Bell Stage was full of exceptional performances and the crowd was packed across the Plains of Abraham for such a great lineup. At around 9 PM, the festival reached capacity levels and sent out social media notifications about limited entry. This was by far the biggest crowd at the main stage during the festival. Luckily, the weather had cleared up from the previous two days and provided a beautiful evening of uninterrupted music.
Toronto based indie-pop/rock band Valley started off the night on a great note, filling the air with some nostalgic rock sounding tunes. The band is composed of lead vocalist Rob Laska, bassist Alex Dimauro, and drummer Karah James. The band is releasing a new album, Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden on August 30th. They played a few songs from the new album like the title track, “When You Know Someone,” and “Bass Player’s Brother.”
Warming up the crowd for the night’s headliner, Jessie Murph was all smiles as she charmed the crowd with her beautiful looks and her smooth mix of country and pop vocals. Murph wore an all-black outfit including a mesh top, cargo pants, and silver chains dangling around her neck. She performed a few songs from her debut album drowning as well as some of her popular singles. Murph was ecstatic as she stated that this was the biggest audience she’s ever played for. We are so happy for Jessie’s success after meeting the singer after her first major festival stage appearance back in 2021 at ACL Fest.
Headliner Post Malone graced the main Bell Stage at 21h30/9:30 p.m. Malone wore a gray button-down long sleeve shirt and blue jeans. He rocked out to 17 of his songs and a four-song encore as fans sang along to his lyrics and danced. The set started out with a string quartet intro of “Better Now.” The string quartet also joined in on the end of “Rockstar” that transitioned into “Take What You Want.”
After the orchestral intro to his collaborative song with Ozzy Osbourne, who unfortunately did not make an appearance, the stage was lit up with red from the giant pyrotechnics display paired with gnarly guitar riffs. The crowd jammed out along to the unique mix of sounds that Malone produced, hitting genres like rock, pop, and R&B. Malone played a handful of some of his most popular songs including “White Iverson,” “Congratulations,” and an emotion filled performance of “Rockstar.”
Malone also pulled a fan named Felix onto the stage to join him on guitar for “Stay.” Felix killed it and had undoubtedly one of the best nights of his life performing in front of close to 100,000 people.
The night closed out with a massive fireworks display over the stage as Post closed out the night in epic fashion for the massive crowd on a Friday night at the Fest.
Check back tomorrow for another update on FEQ. There are only two days left of this amazing festival and we can’t wait to see the last few performances.
