Lainey Wilson: Tough as Nails — A Gritty, Heartfelt Tribute at the Country Music Hall of Fame

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in downtown Nashville has unveiled a new exhibition celebrating one of country music’s most dynamic rising stars: Lainey Wilson. Lainey Wilson: Tough as Nails opened on July 18, 2025, and will remain on display through June 2026, offering fans a rare opportunity to explore the personal and artistic journey behind the Louisiana native’s remarkable rise to global stardom.

The exhibit’s title perfectly captures Wilson’s ethos: a blend of grit, perseverance, and unwavering belief in her dreams. Born and raised on a farm in Baskin, Louisiana, Wilson’s early life was rooted in hard work and small-town community—elements that continue to shape her music and identity. The exhibition traces this path from her childhood through her breakthrough years in Nashville, illustrating both the highs and the struggles that defined her career.

One of the most touching aspects of Tough as Nails is its emphasis on authentic artifacts from Wilson’s life. The display features personal items like the first tooled leather saddle she used as a child, symbolizing her rural roots, and a Montana Silversmiths silver and gold belt buckle engraved with her family farm’s brand—a piece she famously wore to the 2022 CMA Awards. Early memorabilia such as her journal, written at age 16 declaring her dream to become a singer/songwriter, shows how intent she was even before the world knew her name.

Other items provide an intimate look at Wilson’s formative years in music. A program from her kindergarten graduation highlights her first public performance of “Butterfly Kisses,” and her first hat—gifted by a musician friend—marks the beginnings of the signature country style she would later make her own. The exhibit also includes stage wear, instruments, photographs, and pieces of everyday life that tell the story of her evolution from aspiring performer to award-winning artist.

Wilson’s journey, from performing at local pageants and talent contests to becoming one of country music’s most celebrated voices, is a central theme throughout the exhibition. After moving to Nashville in 2011 with little more than determination and a passion for music, she endured years of challenges and setbacks. But her tenacity paid off: hits like “Things a Man Oughta Know” reached No. 1 on country radio, and in 2023 at the CMA Awards she won five trophies and broke a streak of male Entertainers of the Year, becoming the first woman to win since 2011.

Visitors to Lainey Wilson: Tough as Nails get more than a timeline of accomplishments—they experience an immersive narrative of resilience, ambition, and heart. The exhibit underscores how Wilson’s authenticity and work ethic have not only propelled her career but also resonated deeply with fans around the world. For anyone fascinated by the human stories behind today’s biggest artists, this exhibition offers a moving tribute to a country music force and a testament to what it truly means to stay “tough as nails.”

You can purchase different Country Music Hall of Fame ticket packages ranging in price from $30 to $74. Different tours include the Museum, the Hatch Show Print Tour, or the Historic RCA Studio B Tour. For country music lovers young and old, The Country Music Hall of Fame is the mecca of all there is to know about the past, present, and future of country music.
