Palm Springs is one of the many popular destinations in Southern California, especially due to its close proximity to the Coachella Valley. The area offers shopping, restaurants, and dozens of outdoor exploration opportunities. It’s also only 10 minutes away from the Palm Springs International Airport. Just South of Downtown Palm Springs is a historic hotel called The Paloma Resort. The land that the resort sits on has been used for over 100 years as a palm grove, a beauty retreat in the 1950’s, and a resort until it’s re-brand to The Paloma.

After our weekend covering Coachella Music & Arts Festival, we were in need of some rest and relaxation, so we were happy unwind for a few days and take advantage of the amenities at the desert oasis at The Paloma. The check in process was seamless and our room was the perfect size to enjoy the indoor/outdoor space in the beautiful sunny weather.

The resort offers a touch of history and mid-century charm with stunning mountain and palm tree grove views for miles. A fun blend of Spanish and modern decor around the property captures the colorful culture of the Coachella Valley. At the outdoor pool, bright pink umbrellas and tents shade guests from the sun as they relax by the water or grab a signature cocktail at the Poolside Bar. The Bar also offers a wide variety of bites to eat like savory wraps, fresh salads, and an array of healthy vegan options.

For guests that want to get in some exercise, there is a pickleball court on the property that can be reserved or you can take a bike to local eateries and activities located near the property. For golfers, there is even a putting green onsite to practice your swing.

There are five different room types that guests can choose from, all including unique amenities and colorful style. Each room has its own pops of color, whether it be a teal couch or a bright yellow wall, these rooms are sure to bring some color into your day. The rooms are all one to two-bedroom suites. Each suite is equipped with plush bedding, fully-equipped kitchens, and private outdoor areas, while the resort prioritizes local artisanal products and eco-friendly materials to enrich the guest experience. Rooms run between $100 to $300 per night based on your room’s amenities and time of booking.

On the property is a historic Adobe named Sol Y Sombra, a traditional Spanish restaurant. The tapas-style menu hones in on the Coachella Valley’s agricultural roots, melding together Spanish-inspired dishes with accents of citrus, dates, chilies, and other locally-grown ingredients. Of course, the signature Spanish dish, Paella, can be sampled in many different flavorful forms. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch Tuesday – Sunday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Dinner is available Tuesday – Saturday 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Paloma Resort and if you are looking for a desert escape consider this property. It was like an eccentric Barbie Dreamhouse in the desert, just close enough to Palm Springs to enjoy the essence of the Coachella Valley and travel into town for nightlife.
