The Ganges River In India Will See The Longest River Cruise In The World

Earlier this month, the luxury ship MV Ganga Vilas made history as it sailed from India and traveled over the course of 51 days and nearly 2,000 miles.

According to CNN Travel, the ship left from Varanasi, traveling through India and Bangladesh’s waterways, as it embarked on the longest river cruise in the world.

The MV Ganga Vilas will travel along the Ganges and other waterways through five states in western India. It then goes on to Bangladesh, visiting the capital of Dhaka, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and other notable cities and landmarks along the way.

If you want a taste of this cruise, you’ll have to wait…and pay up. According to CNN Travel, 2024 sailings have already sold out. Tickets cost between 4.2 million to 4.5 million rupees or $51,114-$54,765 per guest.

According to Antara Luxury River Cruises, the company owns and operates the cruise ship, it carries 36 lucky passengers in 18 suites with 48 crew members on board.
