At the beginning of October, the Punk Rock Museum opened their newest exhibition honoring Motörhead and Lemmy Kilmister. Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records DJed a special event in the Three Star Punk Bar to celebrate the opening and allow attendees to raise a glass to Lemmy. This exhibit is open through February 1, 2027.
The legacy of Motörhead extends beyond the heavy metal world. While the band’s sound and attitude defined their genre, frontman Lemmy Kilmister also played bass with the Damned and was a big part of the British punk scene. The band’s intensity, speed and sheer volume has influenced many bands, including Pennywise, Rancid, Lagwagon and more.

A Rare Hands-On Experience
The band’s signature sound paired Lemmy’s gravelly voice with his Rickenbacker bass ran through towering Marshall stacks. The result was often described as one of the loudest bands ever seen, a sound that reverberated through its crowds. Now fans can connect with the tools that made that unmistakable sound by plugging in, picking up Lemmy’s bass and experiencing it up close and personal.
Additionally, the exhibition features personal items from Lemmy’s collection, including photographs, handwritten lyrics and more. A custom-made motorcycle by Victory Motorcycles, presented to Lemmy in 2011, is also on display. The bike features airbrush artwork by Terje Aspmo and was customized by CBP Custom Bikes & Parts.
Visitors can grab Motörhead albums at the museum’s record store, Vinyl Threat. In the gift shop, exclusive band merch is also available.
