The Buddy Holly Center invites the community and visitors to join the Buddy Holly 90th Birthday Bash on Monday, September 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free celebration offers something for music fans of all ages and is a chance to honor the legacy of a hometown legend whose music continues to resonate nearly seven decades after his untimely death.
The day’s activities will include opportunities to explore Buddy Holly’s life and the musical history of Lubbock. Visitors can tour the historic J.I. Allison House, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Allison was the drummer for Holly’s early band, The Crickets, making the home an important part of the story behind Lubbock’s musical legacy.

Live music will take center stage at 2:30 p.m., when Dustin Garrett and Shae Arnett perform during the birthday celebration. Their performance will provide the perfect soundtrack for a day dedicated to one of rock and roll’s original trailblazers.
