Holland America Line’s 2028 Grand Voyages allow guests to visit world-renowned destinations while enjoying scenic cruising and longer stays. These extended cruises will take place aboard Volendam and Zaandam and include the 129-day 2028 Grand World Voyage and the 90-day 2028 Grand Australia & New Zealand Voyage. Specific routing includes in-depth exploration across Antarctica, the South Pacific, New Zealand, Australia and more, with the Grand World Voyage spanning six continents.
“When we plan a Grand Voyage, we are looking closely at how each part of the itinerary connects and how much time guests will have in each region,” said Paul Grigsby, vice president of deployment and revenue planning for Holland America Line. “For 2028, the focus was on building routes that make sense from start to finish, with meaningful time in destinations like Antarctica, New Zealand and the South Pacific, paired with scenic passages that are integral to the journey.”

For the first season, Holland America Line’s two Grand Voyages both visit Bora Bora. After sailing through the Teavanui Pass, guests will be awestruck by the island’s lagoon, white-sand islets and Mount Otemanu. Zaandam’s extended stay in Bora Bora will allow its guests time ashore to explore the “Pearl of the Pacific”, whether that means enjoying time on land or snorkeling.
Both ships have a shared call in Bora Bora, sailing through the Teavanui Pass. Once inside the island’s lagoon, guests will be awestruck by the white-sand islets and Mount Otemanu. Zaandam’s extended stay in Bora Bora will allow guests time ashore to explore the lagoon, enjoy time on land or to go snorkeling.

Overland Tours to Once-In-A-Lifetime Destinations
Multi-day overland tours will be available during port days aboard each Grand Voyage. During Volendam’s Grand World Voyage, the ship can be traded for a safari experience. Guests can fly from Durban to Johannesburg, South Africa, enjoy an overnight and then continue on to Hoedspruit and finally to Thornybush Game Lodge. At this 5-star retreat in Big Five country, they can partake in dawn and dusk game drives with a qualified ranger in open vehicles for incredible wildlife viewing. After their stay, guests will fly to Cape Town to rejoin the cruise. On Zaandam’s Grand Australia & New Zealand Voyage, guests can choose an overland that includes Fremantle dives into Western Australia’s Margaret River region, as well as the Busselton Jetty and its Underwater Observatory along Cape Naturaliste’s coastline. Adventurers can also enjoy vineyard tastings and an underground Lake Cave experience before rejoining the ship’s voyage.
The Grand Voyage Difference
A Grand Voyage is much different than a shorter cruise, so Holland America Line makes sure guests are entertained and cared for with onboard programming that complements extended travel. Guests receive excellent service and ever-evolving dining menus to highlight regional flavors and fresh ingredients. Throughout the voyage, destination-focused entertainment, guests performers and enrichment presentations will be available. Each ship also hosts signature events, including gala evenings, dressy nights and the Captain’s Grand Voyage Dinner.
