The Best Ways to Enjoy Foodie Travel as a Family

When you love to eat great food, you may be thinking of centring your next trip around it. But because this might be different from your usual kind of vacation, you may not know where to start. Here are some ideas to inspire you!

Choose a Great Location

To get things started, it will always be beneficial to make sure that you’re choosing the best location possible. If there is a certain type of cuisine you like, make sure that you either head to that country or that you know the place you’re heading to has great restaurants that offer that type of food. You want to be in the vicinity of amazing restaurants and foodie spots!

Let Everyone Pick a Restaurant

A great idea that will help you to all enjoy more foodie travel as a family is to let everyone have their choice of place to eat! Everyone in the family can pick somewhere to eat (or something) during the trip! It might be looking at the best pizza restaurants nearby or heading to a little street food truck. It’s all about ensuring everyone is enjoying the things they like, as well as exploring a range of foods.

Make Some Fun Meals at Your Rental

However, if you have a rental and you know that you don’t always like to eat out for every single meal, then you can have a go at trying some fun ideas yourself! For this, you could head out and get some fresh local ingredients to make things with. You could even team up and have each team make something different as a form of competition. This can be a great way to get your children to try new things and to have a lot of fun at the same time!

Try New Things at Markets and Stalls

Another way for you all to try new things, not just the children, is the idea of trying new foods at markets. When you’re out exploring the local area, you may find yourself coming across a farmers’ market. Here, there will be all sorts of local fare and fresh produce (some of which you can purchase for the above point!) for you to try. You can grab a few things to try as a snack or for your lunch. If you stumble across any street vendors or stalls, you can do the same. This is a great way to try fresh, local cuisine that will be at the heart of the local area.

Do a Food Tasting or Tour

Lastly, there is also the idea of doing a foodie tour or a tasting session. If you’re in Europe, you will find that there are a lot of local food tours for you to try. It might be that you want to try a range of different things from the area, or you want to sample one set style of food. Either way, you should find that there is a wealth of different options for you to choose from that will help you to expand your palette and enjoy some new foods!
