SNL50 Exhibit Opening

Saturday Night Live and Rock Hall have curated an immersive exhibit celebrating the show’s impact on music history through its performances and sketches. SNL: Ladies & Gentleman…50 Years of Music will open to the public this May.

The exhibit combines state-of-the-art video installations and a first-ever virtual experience to showcase some of the show’s most impactful performances – from Blondie to Billie Eilish and many others in between. This exhibit will include both Spanish and English translations as well as offering options for fans with auditory, visual or sensory sensitivities.

The exhibit will take fans through the flow of the show, from the cold open to the home base stage where hosts announce the musical guests. Fans can even take a stab at being the host of the show. Costumes from The Blues Brothers, Sweeney Sisters and Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg’s D–k in a Box sketch and more will be on display. The “Goodnights” section will display 50 years of “SNL” musical performances as guests exit. Other notable elements of the show – like the iconic photography bumpers and stage props – will be utilized throughout. Fans will even be able to take portraits of themselves in the custom built SNL50 photo booth.

In Foster Theater, visitors can watch a 20-minute edit of “Ladies & Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music” directed by Questlove. The documentary features never-before-seen musical performance footage and will play hourly in the theater. Fans can use a special guidebook with a foreword written by former cast member Fred Armisen during their visit. In the museum’s store, visitors can grab co-branded merchandise that is only available on-site.
