Eric Church And Outsiders Spirits Announce Whiskey JYPSI Explorer Series

Outsiders Spirits, the collaborative effort of Eric Church and Raj Alva, has announced its new Whiskey JYPSI Explorer Series. It features well-aged, mature whiskeys ranging between 100-107 proof.

“When we started the company, we had a long-term goal of creating the highest quality whiskeys in the world while having a diversity of products to satisfy the palate of a variety of whiskey drinkers,” said Outsiders co-founder Raj Alva. “Our first launch was an ultra-premium product. This next one is going to be more accessible.”

“We only want to make incredible whiskey, and do it our way,” adds Outsiders Spirits whiskey maker Ari Sussman. “Part of that is making sure it’s not just a whiskey – it’s a story highlighting the places, cultures and agricultures that are part of our explorations.”

The inaugural release in the Explorer Series features a blend of two six-year-old bourbons: a sweet, low rye distilled in Kentucky and a spicy, high rye from Indiana. The blend is finished with two oak varietals that complement the sweet and spicy flavor.

The first is French Oak from France’s famed Forest of Tronçais. For centuries, barrels made from these trees have housed some of the finest Bordeaux wines. They yield notes of spice and leather.

The second is the American Oak from the Appalachian Mountains. These trees yield a flavor profile of sweetness, richness and depth. Explorer’s Appalachian Oak is from North Carolina, near where Eric Church grew up. In addition to the tie to Church, these two regions have another musical tie. European troubadours from The Tronçais forest migrated to the Appalachian Mountains, bringing their singer-songwriter traditions with them.

“It’s a creative process, an adventure, and a story – like music,” said Church. “And you never know where you’re going ‘til you get the song written or the whiskey is made.”

Whiskey JYPSI’s Explorer is $69.99 and now available in select liquor stores across Tennessee. It will soon be available in more markets and online at www.whiskeyjypsi.com
