George Strait And Parker McCollum Set To Play A Texas Homecoming Show

According to KBTX in Texas, a much-anticipated George Strait concert is happening this summer at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field with fellow Texan Parker McCollum. The station is reporting that the show is now set for Saturday, June 15.

Parker McCollum stirred excitement among fans on Monday afternoon (March 18) by sharing an acoustic cover of a George Strait ballad. Alongside the post, McCollum tantalizingly hinted at an upcoming announcement to be made the following morning. Almost immediately, Instagram users began speculating about the significance of McCollum’s video, eagerly anticipating what news he might have in store.

Coincidentally, McCollum’s rendition of “Troubadour” emerged online around the same time as George Strait’s own post, featuring a reel set to his timeless country hit, “Write This Down.” This synchronicity sparked a flurry of comments from fans, with many expressing their desire for a tour stop by Strait in their home state of Texas. While Strait remained silent with his post, McCollum, being a proud Texan himself, added to the intrigue by commenting with a pair of eyes emoji.

Parker is currently on his Burn It Down Tour, based off of his song of the same name that he wrote with the Love Junkies. The tour began in January in Washington and will end back home in Texas on August 31st. McCollum also credits George Strait as a musical hero and has spoken about wanting to do a song with the legendary country star in the past.

Parker McCollum first brought his childhood dream of opening for Strait to life when he opened for him at stadium shows in the summer of 2022 but it will no doubt be more special to do it in his home state of Texas.

These social media interactions come against the backdrop of McCollum’s previous cancellation of a show scheduled for August 30 in College Station, Texas, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” McCollum said at that time that “it’ll all make sense at some point in the near future.”
