Review: Bellroy’s Venture Sling Is The Ultimate DayPack For Travel

It is becoming obvious that The Travel Addict is becoming a new convert and fan of bellroy, the Aussie brand of luggage and travel accessories. On a recent holiday getaway to Charleston, South Carolina I put my new Venture Sling to work as a daypack for walking around the city all day to take in all the historical sites and architecture.

The bag was perfect to hold my small camera, water bottles, snacks, my phone, backup phone charger and wallet with credit cards for an all-day Charleston outing.

Thanks to the expandability features of the sling, it automatically grows or shrinks with your daily needs without the need for physical adjustment. This feature also allows the bag to lay flat when empty which made it easy to pack in my suitcase for an extra day bag while on vacation without taking precious space in my luggage.

Key Bag Facts:

Price: $139USD

Volume: 9L

Dimensions: 320 x 180 x 120mm

Weight: 400g

Colors: Nightsky, Bronze, Ranger Green, Midnight

As a photographer I am also looking for bags that can accommodate my full frame cameras. When I am traveling in tourist cities I often want to have my camera out of view to avoid attention but I also want easy access to grab it to get the perfect shot. This bag will hold my Sony a9 camera and a lens comfortably with easy access. The zipper opens from each end, giving you ultra wide, unobstructed access to grab the camera.

Thanks to the padded back and bottom the sling transforms into an exceptional camera sling/cube, offering versatility beyond traditional uses. While many slings can accommodate small point-and-shoot cameras, the 9L sling bag stands out by providing genuine usefulness for full-frame cameras and lenses.

The sling, along with many of the other bellroy products, has a hidden pocket to hold an Apple AirTag to make sure you always know your bag location.

One of the things that I am always looking for in a bag is comfort when carrying and this bag delivered. I wore it as a longer cross-body sling all day and was pleased with the comfort and look of the bag. The Nightsky blue shade is a perfect neutral color to accompany any on the go outfit.

The leather-free bag is environmentally friendly being made from 100% recycled, water-resistant woven fabric to protect your items from the elements. The bellroy sling bag is also backed by a 3 year warranty.

The Bellroy Venture Sling, although an excellent sling, may not suit everyone’s preferences. Its sizable footprint, even in its compressed form, might be too large for individuals of smaller stature. If you are looking for a smaller bag, you may want to consider the Venture sling in another size. They range from 2.5 L to 10 L so there is a size that will fit everyone’s needs perfectly.
